“Leave it All on the Court”

Leave it All on the Court was an installation that posed the basketball court as a space for Black masculine youth to express a range of emotions without social consequences. The installation featured assemblages of over 300 pairs of basketball shoes, video installations, and a soundscape. Visitors were also able to interact with shoe content via QR codes.

Special thanks to over 100 people who donated shoes, money, time, and their skill to make this vision come true. Special thanks to all who shared their personal basketball stories. Special thanks to my students and their friends for allowing me into your space on the court. Special thanks to Adrian Moore and Jessica Leigh for additional audio and video recording. Special thanks to cinematographer and editor, Adrian Muys.
